This is so cool…not only will I get to see the Preljocaj Ballet with fashion designs by Azzedine Alaia, but there will be two upcoming fashion designers with inspired designs on display in the Dorthy Chandler Pavillion lobby. If I can get a few photos in…I will be sure to post!
We were so excited to hear that the costumes for Ballet Preljocaj’s Les Nuits were designed by Azzedine Alaïa, (a favorite of Michelle Obama, Victoria Beckham and Cher Horowitz) that we decided to open up a fashion challenge to two up and coming local designers – Bri Seeley and Michelle Hébert. Their mission? Create 3 looks inspired by the A Thousand and One Nights tales on which the Les Nuits vignettes are based upon. The looks will be on display in the lobby of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion before each of the three performances, with the two designers on site to talk about their work and the role fashion continues to play in the dance world, whether creating looks for the stage, or for the people in the seats.
